No matter
where I go - North, South, East, or West - I always come back to Savannah
where I've been painting for 50 years. The scenes I choose to
capture on canvas are pictures of my everyday life - my church, bank, and
downtown's famous squares where I walk my dog, Blue. I also find beauty in the
commonplace -- a little red cottage, curtains flapping in the breeze or
children playing hopscotch on the sidewalk in front of dilapidated framed
houses.
My paintings seem to tell the story of my life, which has
been far from perfect. But at age 87 I can look back and realize
some things happen for the best. I have been fulfilled since I found
my love for Savannah, her people and for painting. I have traveled
near and far but I always want to come back home to Savannah. There
is no other place like it on Earth.
My painting, my upbringing as a country girl, my move to
this fair city, and wonderful friends have made me what I am today.
It all has been an inspiration to me. Now I hope it will be to you,
too.
